Candace Savage for A Geography of Blood: Unearthing Memory from a Prairie Landscape;

Robert Fowler for A Season in Hell: My 130 Days in the Sahara with Al Qaeda;

Nahlah Ayed for A Thousand Farewells: A Reporter’s Journey from Refugee Camp to the Arab Spring;

Samantha Bernstein for Here We are Among the Living: A Memoir in Emails;

George Bowering for Pinboy: A Memoir;

Modris Eksteins for Solar Dance: Genius, Forgery, and the Crisis of Truth in the Modern Age;

Taras Grescoe for Straphanger: Saving Our Cities and Ourselves from the Automobile;

Andrew Preston for Sword of the Spirit, Shield of Faith: Religion in American War and Diplomacy; and

Stephen R. Bown for The Last Viking: The Life of Ronald Amundsen
