One Book One Calgary opening event

As I’ve mentioned previously, The Calgary Public Library has selected Walls: Travels Along the Barricades as their 2014 ‘One Book One Calgary’ selection. The OBOC program launches on Saturday November 1st at the Central library downtown with an event dubbed, ominously, “An Evening with Marcello Di Cintio.”

Since the book came out back in 2012, several readers have told me that they would’ve appreciated the inclusion of maps and photos in the book. Fair enough. I’ve answered their call; my presentation on Saturday evening will be replete with images and maps – and, perhaps, a sound clip or two. The evening will also feature a recitation by a couple of local poets, including Calgary’s reigning Poet Laureate, Derek Beaulieu, who has been saddled with the task of writing a poem about the book. (What rhymes with ‘walls’ anyway?). Refreshments, of course, will be served.

Details are here. See you on Saturday.
